  • Dr Karen Gowlett-Holmes - Marine Biologist, co-owner of the Eaglehawk Dive Centre, and active diver for over 35 years. Karen is an internationally recognised expert on marine invertebrates, and she has won national and international awards for her photography. Karen is an expert on the marine environment of the Tasman Peninsula and will be sharing her work on the giant kelp restoration project with us. Her stunning photography and deep knowledge of the marine world will leave you inspired.

  • Associate Professor Scott Ling - Marine Ecologist at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania, where he leads important research on the health of Tasmania’s reef ecosystems. His work focuses on the relationship between rock lobster populations and the control of sea urchins, particularly in areas like North Bay on the Tasman Peninsula. Overgrazing by sea urchins can devastate kelp forests. Scott’s will share his research with us on how healthy rock lobster populations, natural predators of urchins, can help restore and maintain balance in these fragile underwater environments.

This event promises to be engaging and educational for all ages. Whether you're a curious child, a passionate adult, or someone simply looking to spend an enriching afternoon, this showcase has something for everyone.
