Head Chef

Our long standing and much-loved head chef is leaving Bangor, so an exciting opportunity is available for a new Head Chef to join our team.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a head chef who will thrive leading a busy kitchen, working with a caring and dedicated team to deliver the highest-quality food experience.

  • A qualified career professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial cookery, and a commitment to quality.

  • Experience with staff management, leading, training, and motivating kitchen teams.

  • A friendly and supportive leadership style, fostering cooperation and respect between co-workers.

  • Thrives under pressure, with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.

  • A team player.

  • A focus on excellence and representing the Bangor brand.

Your skills and experience:

  • Capable of producing high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment for daily service.

  • Experience with catering for a range of functions and events.

  • Experience with menu costing, minimising waste, and meeting food cost targets.

  • Seasonal menu development, utilising the best local produce

  • Experience with optimising kitchen processes and procedures.

  • Experience with rostering.

  • Experience managing stock control, ordering, and deliveries.

  • Good understanding of computer programs such as MS Office, restaurant management software, POS.

  • Possess strong leadership skills to support, develop, and mentor team members.

  • Strong focus on compliance.

  • A commitment to working with the management team to meet KPI’s.

  • Ability to engage with the local community.

The role is mostly day-service, with occasional evening functions (we have an established and experienced functions team). Food and wine tastings, vineyard tours, retail Bangor pantry items, helicopter picnics on remote Bangor headlands, and meet-the-producer functions, are just some of the activities that make our Head Chef role interesting and rewarding, and unlike any other restaurant.

Bangor Vineyard Shed boasts a large kitchen, built in 2022, and access to some of the best local produce in the world. There is the option of temporary accommodation for anyone relocating to the area.

Restaurant Front of House

We are looking for someone to fill a front of house role in our full table service restaurant from December onwards. Duties include:

  • waiting and clearing tables
  • taking orders and assisting customers
  • dishwashing and cleaning
  • exceptional customer service

Bangor Vineyard Shed is looking for someone to join the front of house team. This is an opportunity to be part of a busy restaurant/cellar door, working with a caring and dedicated team, under supervision.  Experience desirable, but not essential.  We have a strong training program and will provide training and support in this role. We provide a trial shift so that you can get to know us.  This is a casual position initially, with the option of converting to permanent for the right candidate.

Wine Tasting

We are looking for someone to fill a wine tasting role in our cellar door, November onwards. Duties include:

  • conducting wine tasting with customers
  • wine sales
  • wine club and newsletter sign ups
  • exceptional customer service

Chef/Cook

We are looking for a qualified chef or experienced cook to join the restaurant team in our kitchen over summer. Duties include:
  • Food preparation and serving
  • Assist with food ordering and management of food and pantry stocks
  • Assist with menu development
  • Assist with functions
We are looking for someone to join the restaurant team. This is an opportunity to be part of a busy kitchen, working with a caring and dedicated team, to deliver a high quality food experience. This is a great time to join the restaurant team with exciting plans ahead, after the fantastic kitchen redevelopment in 2022. We have a strong training program and will provide training and support in this role. We provide a trial shift so that you can get to know us.  We will be highly flexible in tailoring this role to you.  We can offer a casual, part time, or full-time position, depending on the needs of the candidate.

This is an opportunity to be part of a busy kitchen, working with a caring and dedicated team, under supervision of the Chefs.  Experience desirable, but not essential.  We have a strong training program and will provide training and support in this role. We provide a trial shift so that you can get to know us.  This is a casual position initially, with the option of converting to permanent for the right candidate.  Availability to work weekends is important.
