Tourism Australia Ambassadors Hamish Blake and Zoë Foster Blake visited Bangor Vineyard Shed this week as part of their tour of Tassie. It was wonderful to chat to them about our vineyard and wine and the farm, helping to showcase Tasmanian tourism.
When Tourism Australia Ambassadors Hamish Blake and Zoë Foster Blake toured Tasmania, one of their stops was our very own Bangor Vineyard Shed on the Tasman Peninsula.
Their visit shone a national spotlight on Tasmanian food, wine, and regional tourism, and we were thrilled to share our story, our wines, and a little slice of Bangor’s history with them.
A Warm Tasmanian Welcome
Hamish and Zoë are no strangers to adventure, and their visit was part of Tourism Australia’s “Holiday Here This Year” campaign, encouraging Australians to explore their own backyard. When they arrived at Bangor, we welcomed them with a relaxed Tasmanian experience - panoramic coastal views, a table filled with local produce, and glasses of Bangor Pinot Noir and Riesling.
We chatted about what makes Bangor special: a family-run vineyard surrounded by 6,000 hectares of working farmland and conservation bushland, all overlooking Boomer Bay. Like so many of our guests, they were drawn to the sense of space, connection, and calm that Bangor offers.
Celebrating Tasmanian Wine and Produce
During their visit, Hamish and Zoë learned about our approach to sustainable viticulture and the story behind our multi-award-winning wines.r.
They also enjoyed our seasonal menu, crafted from locally sourced Tasmanian ingredients. From Bangor lamb and fresh seafood to artisan cheeses and wildflower honey. For them, and for us, it was a celebration of the island’s incredible produce and people.
“Tasmania has some of the most beautiful landscapes and warmest hospitality in Australia. Bangor is one of those rare places that blends nature, history, and flavour perfectly.”
— Zoë Foster Blake
Bangor and Tourism Australia – Sharing Tasmania with the World
As Tourism Australia Ambassadors, Hamish and Zoë were visiting destinations that showcase Australia’s world-class experiences, and we’re proud that Bangor Vineyard Shed was part of their Tasmanian itinerary.
Their journey helped shine a light on regional tourism operators who deliver authentic Australian experiences. For us, it was an opportunity to highlight what makes the Tasman Peninsula so special - a region known for its convict heritage, dramatic coastline, and exceptional cool-climate wines.
Matt Dunbabin spoke about Bangor’s long history of stewardship, from six generations of the Dunbabin family to the creation of Bangor Vineyard Shed as a place where guests can enjoy wine, food, and Tasmanian storytelling - all in one place.
Why Hamish and Zoë Loved Bangor
What makes Bangor memorable for visitors like Hamish and Zoë isn’t just the wine - it’s the feeling. The sweeping ocean views, the connection to land and family, and the genuine warmth of our team combine to create something distinctly Tasmanian.
They spent time exploring the vineyard, learning about our Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris vines, and hearing how our wines reflect the maritime climate and ancient soils of this coastline. Their visit was relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter - much like a Bangor lunch should be.
