Festival of Voices Pop-Up at Bangor – A Joyful Afternoon of Song
We’re thrilled to announce that Festival of Voices is popping up at Bangor this winter! Join us on Saturday 28th June for a magical evening of live music, local wine, and warm winter hospitality as part of Tasmania’s much-loved winter arts festival.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Festival of Voices—Australia’s original and longest-running festival celebrating the power of the human voice. What began in 2005 as a small choral gathering has grown into a beloved statewide event, lighting up stages, streets, and towns across Tasmania with song, storytelling and community spirit. We’re proud to be part of this milestone celebration, bringing the joy of live music to our corner of the east coast.
Bangor will be hosting three fabulous vocal groups for an afternoon of live music, connection, and winter warmth.
Entry is free, but seating is limited—so be sure to book your spot early:

What to Expect:
🎶 3:30–5:00pm: Performances from three incredible a cappella groups:
-
3:30pm The Mudlarks (NSW) – A long-standing women’s a cappella choir from the Blue Mountains, directed by Kaori Shimmyo. The group has been singing together since the early 1990s and a few of those first singers are still with the choir today, alongside others who joined just this year. The Mudlarks are delighted to be performing with a repertoire of pop, folk and classical songs from around the world. In the early 90s, purple was the colour of eccentricity and rebellion, and the Mudlarks still wear it proudly today!
-
4:00pm Four Tune Finders (TAS) – Hobart’s award-winning quartet bringing fresh energy to the a cappella scene with both classic and contemporary tunes. The Four Tune Finders launched in Hobart in April 2023 and just months later won the Australian Novice Quartet award at the PanPacific Barbershop Festival in Auckland. They backed up this success in 2024 with the Most Improved Quartet award at the national Barbershop Harmony Festival on the Gold Coast. This talented group has been performing regularly around Hobart, carving a niche in the resurgent a cappella scene. With a diverse repertoire of classic and contemporary songs they are excited to share their love of close harmony with Tasmanian audiences.
-
4:30pm Vocal Tonic (SA) – A vibrant women’s vocal group from Adelaide performing “Hats, Harmonies and Humour” – an eclectic and entertaining set of songs across a wide range of genres.
🍷 5:00-6:00pm: Stay and mingle with fellow music lovers over drinks and nibbles available for purchase.
With stunning views, fine wine, and world-class vocal talent, this is the perfect way to spend a winter afternoon. Whether you're a local or visiting the region, we’d love to welcome you to this warm, community-focused event as part of Festival of Voices’ 20th year celebration.
Come for the harmonies, stay for the hospitality – we can’t wait to see you at Bangor!
